Larger Home Extension PD Rights made Permanent

The permitted development rights for larger home extensions have now been made permanent by the government. This means that for a single storey rear extension on a detached dwelling you can extend up to 8m or 6m if your dwelling is attached as long as your dwelling is not in Article 2(3) land* or a Site of Special Scientific Interest .

*Article 2 (3) land is land within:

  • a conservation area; or
  • an area of outstanding natural beauty; or
  • an area specified by the Secretary of State for the purposes of enhancement and protection of the natural beauty and amenity of the countryside; or
  • the Broads; or
  • a National Park; or
  • a World Heritage Site
